Presenting a love story, the trailer is action-packed and ruled by punchlines, a staple Milap Zaveri style. Written and directed by Milap Zaveri, the film also stars Riteish Deshmukh as a dwarf.

The three-minute-long trailer packs several punches but also surprises with Rakul Preet Singh and Tara Sutaria's characters. While many didn't know the first was part of the film, Tara will be seen playing a mute girl who falls in love with a gangster aka Sidharth Malhotra. He is the handsome gangster who does not care much for religious barriers, he believes and respects all. Tara is introduced as the mute girl with her own voice over while Riteish Deshmukh is the big bad villain who is just 3-foot tall.
Malhotra is often seen fighting if not romancing Tara. With heavy and slow-motion fight scenes, the trailer also features a love song. Marjavaan trailer is highly influenced by Ek Villan theme, Deshmukh is even heard singing the film's song at his entry. It also gives away a big twist, the lead pair is seen using the 'knife to neck sign' throughout and at the end Sidharth shoots Tara with his gun, point-blank. It then reads the film's title Marjaavaan with Mar turning red as if he was intended to kill her all along.
After Zero this is the second time a filmmaker has attempted a dwarf character with a tall actor. Milap Zaveri here has used a different approach. He has resorted to using camera gimmicks like odd angles and wide lenses at least in the trailer. All scenes where Riteish is seen are either from the ground level, airviews or at chest height.

A few days ago, we had reported that Karan Johar's heroine Tara Sutaria, who will make her debut in Student Of The Year 2, had bagged yet another interesting project with Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh. The film will be directed by Milap Zaveri. After quitting Arjun Reddy remake due to date issues, the actress will now be seen in yet another love story. Now, it has been officially announced that the trio is coming together for the upcoming drama titled Marjaavaan.
The film is co-produced by Nikkhil Advani and T-Series' Bhushan Kumar. Marjaavan will be a violent and yet dramatic love story. It brings back Ek Villain duo Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh after four years. Nikkhil knows the expectations are too high with the duo's last hit, Satyameva Jayate and also that Sidharth and Riteish had given a hit with Ek Villain. They are confident that Marjaavaan is a winner and excited to have Milap on board. Nikkhil said that the director has gained a lot of confidence after the success of Satyameva Jayate in terms of both drama and dialogue departments. Talking about Tara Sutaria, Nikkhil added that she brings freshness and excitement to the team. Her character is the main USP of the film.
Bhushan Kumar, head honcho of T-Series, is excited to back yet another film with Nikkhil Advani after the success of Satyameva Jayate. They are confident of this family entertainer which will have a pretty interesting and engaging story. They plan to highlight the love story with a wonderful musical score.
Marjaavaan will go on floors in the month of December this year and the makers plan to wrap up by March next year. They are currently working on a massive outdoor set and looking for October 2, 2019 release date which will be followed by Dussehra festival.

The makers of Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh's Marjaavaan released the official trailer of the film on Thursday and we bet you will be surprised to see both Sidharth and Riteish in their violent looks. The three-minute-long video features Riteish Deshmukh in a never-seen-before look. He plays a vertically challenged villain, who ruins Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria's love story. What follows is the story of Sidharth Malhotra's revenge, in which he looks extremely fierce and ready to pounce upon Riteish Deshmukh. What's more interesting about the trailer is that all characters (including Rakul Preet Singh) introduce themselves with cliche shayaris.
The trailer offers more than just action scenes - there is also a subtle hint of heavy one-liners in the dialogues. Sharing the trailer on Twitter, Sidharth Malhotra wrote: "Raavan ke dus sarr ke liye ek teer hi kaafi hai. Marjaavaan trailer out now."
Marjaavaan marks the second collaboration between Ritesih Deshmukh and Sidharth Malhotra after Ek Villain. Directed by Milap Mila Zaveri and produced by T-Series and Emmay Entertainment, Marjaavaan also features Tara Sutaria, Rakul Preet Singh and Nora Fatehi. Marjaavaan was earlier slated on October 2 but the makers decided to move the release date to November 22 to avoid box office clash with Tiger Shroff and Hrithik Roshan's War. However, they changed to release date again to November 8 and now Marjaavaan will open in theatres along with John Abraham's Pagalpanti, which is releasing on the same date.
On the work front, Sidharth Malhotra was last seen in Jabariya Jodi while Riteish Deshmukh's last film was Total Dhamaal.
